The International Gymnastics Federation wants to recognise parkour as a new discipline, with a view to Olympic inclusion in 2024. But the parkour community is opposing the FIG’s effortsThe Dame du Lac lives an hour’s ride from Paris, in the suburb of Lisses. She is a 20m tall triangular wall, rutted and pocked with concrete knobs, ledges and gullies. In the late 1980s David Belle and his friends would come here to swing, leap and bound from one of her nooks to the next until they made it all the way to the platform at the top. They were not only playing but training. There was a discipline to it. A brilliant hat-trick was completed in style – Asmir Begovic, the Bournemouth goalkeeper, ended up on his backside, Steve Cook was trailing in Salah’s wake for the umpteenth time and Nathan Aké stood helpless on the line – as Salah flicked the ball into the net with the outside of his left boot. After losing 1-0 at home to Aberdeen at Ibrox in midweek, the visitors found themselves in trouble again when former Gers striker Kenny Miller scored after just nine minutes when he capitalised on a hesitant Ibrox rearguard to beat goalkeeper Allan McGregor. 3.24pm GMT So there we are. That was a lot of fun, especially in the first half but also in the second. Rangers played like a team who haven’t been coached, without method or composure, which suited Dundee down to the ground. They have things about which to think before Thursday’s European decider, while Dundee will feel they’ve a decent chance of staying up. Ta-ra. Continue reading...
